FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

So what's this personal styling all about then? I'm so glad you asked...

London Personal Stylist | Lolo Lovett

Why should you hire a personal stylist?

There are seriously dozens of reasons - maybe you've had a recent lifestyle change like a change in jobs/career, gotten married, had a baby, lost or gained weight, have had a change in income, I could go on! The majority of my clients come to me because they just want to feel more confident about the way they dress. Sometimes we lose ourselves a bit, my job is to help you reconnect and put your best self forward.

What areas do you cover?

I am based in Hitchin, North Hertfordshire but happy to travel throughout Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and London. I'm also happy to travel further, but there may be an additional cost for time and expenses.

Who is your typical client?

There is no such thing as 'typical'! I've worked with women of all ages and sizes - from size 2 to 32 and ages ranging from 18 year olds starting university to those in their late 60s! My clients come from various backgrounds, professions and financial means. I've taken clients to Asda and shopped for others in Selfridges - I'm very happy to work with anyone.

How will I benefit from a personal stylist?

Working with a stylist will help boost your confidence. It's a fact that we feel better about ourselves when we are comfortable with how we look.

I will also help you save money by recycling and repurposing the clothes that are already in your closet. Personal shopping clients will find that we build a well thought out wardrobe that can be mixed and matched - so you don't need to buy random items of clothing throughout the season.

Can I bring my husband/mum/friend/etc along to my appointment?

In all honesty, it's best if you don't. My sessions are are designed to be one-on-one experiences that focus solely on you. Sometimes having an additional person can be distracting and its just less productive.

How much does it cost?

It depends on the service and time you will need in order to meet your requirements and achieve your style goals. My rates start at £50 per hour with a minimum of two hour appointments. I do offer reduced rates based on the amount you book.

How can I pay?

I am happy to accept cash, cheques, BACS transfers or Paypal (although there is a charge for Paypal). All payments are due within 14 days of the appointment. I require a 50% deposit to secure your booking. Please see my full payment and bookings policy here

Do you offer discounts?

I have intentionally priced my services at very competitive prices - I rather offer all my clients a good session at the best possible price then hike my prices up so that I can offer discounts. From time to time I run special promotions - check out my News page for the latest offerings. To be the first in the know, sign up for my email newsletter or Facebook page. I can also offer £20 off when you book a Wardrobe Detox and a Personal Shopping session at the same time.

So do you make a commission off of what I buy?

Not at all. I am completely unbiased and in the event that I do get any deals or discounts, I pass those on directly to my client. I do not receive any exchanges aside from the agreed fee for your session.

Do you provide Look Books?

I do with my Personal Shopping and Outfit Building services. These come in detailed and categorised booklets for easy reference. I'm also happy to take pictures on your phone or tablet of outfits we create during your Wardrobe Detox or Personal Shopping sessions so that you may refer back to them at a later date.

Why don't you show before and after pictures?

Personal styling is just that - personal. Most clients prefer anonymity and confidentiality and I am happy to honour that. No one likes a bad picture of themselves on the internet for all to see. Plus clients are so unique and individual - my sessions are designed to accommodate that so I rather show you how great you can look rather than someone else!

I'm interested but I don't have time for an appointment or live in your area. How can you help me?

The best thing to do is get in touch. We can discuss your restrictions and requirements and I'm sure we'll be able to work something out. I also offer an Online Style Fix, which is great for those that just want to know what to wear without leaving the house.

What's your cancellation policy?
I require at least one weeks notice for a full cancellation. You can read my full policy here

What information do you require from me?

When you book an appointment I need your full contact details including name, phone number, home address and email address. I will then send you a link to my new client questionnaire to fill out, which takes about 15 minutes. It's great if you have an idea of what you'd like to achieve, but if you don't, not to worry - we'll work it out together.

What can I expect?

While everyone's experience is different, all of my clients have found it to be an enjoyable and beneficial experience. Read my Testimonials to see what they've had to say. You can expect to learn more about your shape and how you can make it work better for you. I am non judgemental but I will be honest with you - you're not paying me to tell you that everything looks nice!

Do you offer full day appointments?

I like to keep appointments at a maximum of four hours, as trying on clothes and continuously looking at yourself in the mirror can be tiring! I have found that my clients get the most of my sessions and remain focused on the task at hand if we don't exceed four hours. However, I'm willing to consider longer appointments in special circumstances.

How often will I need your services?

As often as you want! I recommend seeing clients twice per year, usually at the onset of a seasonal change, after significant weight loss/gain, or simply before attending a major event or special occasion.

What is the average budget for personal shopping?

It really depends on the client, their goals and their needs - sometimes it's just an outfit, while others may want a full seasonal wardrobe. I'm happy to shop almost anywhere and stick to your budget. I can also advise the best shops in order to achieve what you need from a set budget.

Will a Wardrobe Detox mean throwing out all my clothes?

Of course not! We will go through every single item and there will definitely be some that need to go. But we'll also look at ways you can wear things differently in order to make the most out of them. I'll also suggest ways to alter your clothing to make it suit you better. We'll then create a list of key updaters that will enhance the items that you already own. I won't take anything away with me though - so if you decide you want to keep items that we dismissed, it's totally up to you.

But don't most shops offer free personal shopping appointments these days?

Yes they do. However the experience will differ greatly. While they are experts at their brand, they often do not have professional stylist training. They are a good option if you know what you want but don't have time to find it. However if you're a bit lost, they may confuse you further! I strive to really get to know you and your lifestyle as well as your body so that I can make choices based on all these factors. In addition, I am continuously training and developing my services to fit my clients, current trends and what's actually on offer. I also find that just visiting one shop can be quite limiting.
